nice to meet you
Originally from Sacramento, CA, Shelby Phillips attended college at San Francisco State University where she obtained a Bachelors in Liberal Studies as well as a Minor in Women & Gender Studies. As both a ceramist & florist, she creates pieces with a focus on design and an eye that sees beauty in the imperfections.
Harvest & Hand was founded out of an innocent love of flora & fauna which sparked in the expansive, twisting garden of her grandparents' home in Sonoma, CA*. Many summers spent gardening, catching tadpoles, and hand picking bouquets for her mom as a child forged an appreciation of nature that still inspires her today.
Time spent working at a variety of florist shops created a desire to construct new vessels and forms. Making unique and accessible pieces to bring nature inside the home is a main drive her in her process.
All products are handcrafted in small batches with locally sourced materials by this one woman team. Harvest & Hand is based out of a small (teeny, tiny) studio space in beautiful Portland, Oregon where Joni, the scruffy pooch, keeps her company.
Please feel free to reach out with any questions, requests, or inquiries.
*I highly recommend locating and listening to Norton Buffalo's "Lovin' In The Valley Of The Moon." It's the North Bay Disco song you never knew you needed.
